Inflation year-on-year (y-on-y) in December 2022 was 5.51 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Kotabaru at 8.65 percent.

Abstract

In December 2022 there was Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation of 5.51 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.59. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Kotabaru at 8.65 percent with a CPI of 119.83 and the lowest occurred in Sorong at 3.26 percent with a CPI of 110.95.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.83 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 1.40 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 3.78 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 4.86 percent; the health group by 2.87 percent; transportation group by 15.26 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 3.04 percent; the education group by 2.77 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 4.49 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 5.91 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.36 percent.

The December 2022 Month to Month (m-to-m) inflation rate was 0.66 percent and the December 2022 Year to Date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 5.51 percent.

The y-on-y inflation rate for the core component in December 2022 was 3.36 percent, m-to-m inflation was 0.22 percent, and y-to-d inflation was 3.36 percent.
