In September 2018, the level of inequality in the expenditure of the population of Sumatera Barat as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.305. This figure fell by 0.016 points when compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio which was 0.321.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2018 was recorded at 0.308, down by 0.030 points compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2018 which amounted to 0.338.
The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2018 was recorded at 0.262, or decreased by 0.018 points compared to the March 2018 figure, and fell more sharply by 0.026 points against the September 2017 Gini Ratio which was recorded at 0.288.
As of September 2018, the distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent group is 21.66 percent. This means that population expenditure is in the category of low inequality levels.
Specified by region, in urban areas the figure was 21.01 percent, while rural areas recorded a higher figure, which was 24.20 percent. This means that both in urban and rural areas in Sumatera Barat fall into the category of low inequality.
