Kominfo Kota Pariaman—The Pariaman City Government has again collaborated with vocational tertiary institutions to support the One Family One Bachelor (Sagasaja) program in Pariaman City. This time the Mayor of Pariaman, Genius Umar, emphasized cooperation with the Chancellor of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Prof. Arif Satria at the IPB Bogor campus in Bogor City, Wednesday, 11/1.
Genius Umar said that the Sagasaja program was an attempt by Pemko Pariaman to break the poverty chain in Kota Pariaman.
“Poverty starts from a lack of education and they cannot go to school because they are poor, so this problem always revolves around there. Therefore, the government must intervene through educational policies for these underprivileged families," he said in front of the Chancellor of IPB and the Dean of IPB's Vocational Office.
"If we only provide rice, clothing and other assistance, it will not significantly reduce the poverty rate in the region, but if through this program, education will be raised and the family's economy can also be lifted," he continued.
Genius also stressed that people who can't afford it also have things for high school provided they also have a strong will to move forward. He also revealed that a lot of knowledge gained when studying the doctoral program at IPB was applied as a policy in Pariaman City such as education and health policy.
Meanwhile the Chancellor of IPB, Prof. Arif Satria welcomed this collaboration.
"Education and health are important things to improve human resources, because when they are healthy and educated, their thinking will be of high quality," he said.
West Sumatra is a storehouse of intellectuals and intellectuals in Indonesia, there are many figures in the struggle for the nation from West Sumatra.
"Therefore, we will continue to support Pemko Pariaman's program in the field of education," he continued.
Apart from education, he also hopes that there will be cooperation in other fields such as the environment so that solutions to problems in society can be found.
